About Golibe Festival
The Golibe Festival is the biggest neoclassical festival East of the Niger, running from the third week of December and closing with the dawn of the new year, the festival seeks to fuse the rich cultural practices of the Jewel of the Niger – Onicha Ado N’Idu – with the realities of the cosmopolitan 21st century city of Onitsha and a modern Eastern Nigeria.
The festival provides a platform for families and friends to reunite in shared heritage and revel in new formed memories and bask in the nostalgia of the past.
Utilising ‘funtastic vehicles’ such as the longest and most colourful carnival East of the Niger, an ethereal masquerade festival, a pageant, a musical festival and side attractions such as a Dreamland for children, a Chill Zone for adults and a fiercely contested football competition, the Golibe Festival is the complete entertainment package.
